9ice was born Abolore Adegbola Akande on January 17, 1980 in Oyo State, Nigeria. Proficient in the afrobeat genre, 9ice began writing his own songs at the age of 14. He later dropped out of his Law degree course to concentrate on music and began his singing career around 2000. Since then, 9ice has been associated with acts such as the Mysterious Boys, Abinibi – a group he formed, Jahbless, Alapomeji Allstars and Darey.
