Angélique Kpasseloko Hinto Hounsinou Kandjo Manta Zogbin Kidjo, commonly known as Angélique Kidjo is a Grammy Award winning afropop singer-songwriter, noted for her diverse musical influences and creative music videos. Born in Cotonou, Benin on July 14, 1960, by the time she was six, Kidjo was performing with her mother's theater troupe. She started out her career as a backup singer in local bands before moving to Paris where in 1985, she became the lead singer of the Jasper van't Hof's Pili Pili band. Her musical style involves the use of Benin's traditional Zilin vocal technique and jazz vocalese to produce hit songs like “Wombo Lombo
