Artist: Salif Keïta

Born on August 25, 1949 in Djoliba, Mali, Salif Keïta is an internationally recognized afropop musician.  Keïta’s music is a combination of traditional West African music styles seen through his use of instruments such as the balafon, djembe and kora, which he pairs with influences from both Europe and the Americas, while maintaining an overall Islamic style. Since 1967, he has worked with groups such as Super Rail Band de Bamako and Les Ambassadeurs (later Les Ambassadeurs Internationaux).
