Rafiya is an acoustic and afro soul musician born in Los Angeles to Congolese parents. While attending school full-time in various countries including Congo (Democratic Republic), Benin, the Cape Verde Islands, Guinea, Senegal and Ivory Coast, Rafiya found time to work with local African music artists. Such interactions enabled her to absorb their techniques and wisdom, which in turn enriched her sound. In 2010, she made her presence felt in music circles when she released her cover of the Franco et Le T.P.O.K Jazz classic “Mario”. Rafiya writes and sings about the human experience in French and English but regardless of your native tongue, her passion is translated in the melody.
