Orchestra Maquis Original is a dansi band, originally from Lubumbashi, DR Congo. Founded in 1970 and still active, Orchestra Maquis Original is today one of the longest running dansi bands. Original band members included Chinyama Chianza, Nguza Mbangu, Mbuya Makonga, Thsimanga Assosa, Ilunga Mbanza and Dekula “Vumbi” Kahanga. Also known as "Maquis Du Zaïre", the band has explored various African music styles including kamanyola, sanifu, ogelea piga mbizi and zembwela. Originally known as Orchestre Super Gabby, and then a soukous band, the group decided to relocate to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in 1972. Thereafter, they changed their name to Orchestra Maquis Original, under which they released the hit song “Karubandika
