Formed some thirty years ago in Tanga, Tanzania, The Kilimanjaro Band started out under the name The Love Bugs and mostly performed cover songs. The band later changed its name to The Revolutions and then to The Kilimanjaro Band. The band is today well known for its mduara music and circle dancing style performed by members Nyota Abdallah, Wazir Ally, Mohamed Moddy Mrisho, John Kitime, Keppy Kiombile, Juma Omari, Mabrouk Omar and Abou Mwinchumu. In 2000, the Band released their biggest selling album to date, which featured the title track "Kinyau-Nyau", a hit song with strong influences from the Tanzanian coast. The Kilimanjaro band is today popular with African music lovers from the continent and beyond.
