Born in Nyakach, Kenya, Suzanna Owiyo was introduced to music at a tender age by her grandfather, a prolific Nyatiti player. Suzanna’s brand of African music is afro-fusion, a melange of benga and contemporary rhythms, featuring traditional instruments such as the nyatiti and orutu. Initially associated with acts such as Sally Oyugi and Bora Bora Band, Suzanna later began her solo career with the composition of her hit “Kisumu 100”.
