Sindile Zanemvula Madlingozi, popularly known as Ringo was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1964. While his vocal abilities were noticed at an early age, it was his love for drumming that earned him the nickname “Ringo” in reference to Ringo Starr of the Beatles. Ringo started out as a vocalist for the group "Ikwezi", and later for the bands "Peto" and Gecko Moon. Encouraged to sing in his native language “Is’ Xhosa” Ringo found his true voice in the mbaqanga genre which led to international hit songs such as “Sondela”. Today Ringo remains one of the most sought after African music acts on the live performance circuit in South Africa.
