soukous singer, regarded as the “Queen of Congolese rumba”. Born in 1959 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, M'bilia Bel began her career in
African music at the age of seventeen, singing backup for Abeti Masikini, and later with Sam Mangwana. She then joined Tabu Ley's Afrisa International in 1981.
