Formed in 1978, Les Wanyika was a prominent rumba band based in Nairobi, Kenya. The group was an offshoot of Simba Wanyika, a group formed by the Kinyonga brothers from Tanzania, who established their base in Kenya. Les Wanyika was founded by Omar Shabani, Tom Malanga, Rashid Juma, Phoney Mkwanyule and Stanely Mtambo. It was later joined by John Ngereza, Issa Juma , Joseph Just, Mohammed Tika Abdallah and Victor Boniface. Ngereza, Juma and Shabani were from Tanzania, while Malanga was a Kenyan. Les Wanyika made many popular African music recordings, but are best remembered for their 1979 classic "Sina Makosa
