Awilo Longomba is a musician from DR Congo famous for his self-invented genre techno-soukous. Awilo grew up with a strong musical influence from his father Victor Longomba who co-founded T.P. OK Jazz with Franco. An uncle to the Longombas, the Kenya-based afropop duo, Awilo began his career in music as a drummer for the groups Viva la Musica, Stukas, Nouvelle Generation and Loketo. In 1995, he quit drumming and released his first album with help from soukous legends such as Shimita, Ballou Canta, Dindo Yogo, Dally Kimoko and Sam Mangwana.
