Artist: Nimon-Toki Lala

Nimon-Toki Lala is a singer who began her African music career in Lome, Togo. In 1978, she was chosen as one of YTA Jourias’ singers for a European tour which saw her arrive in France and remain there to pursue singing and dancing. In 1982, she was awarded the RFI Prix DĂ©couvertes by Radio France Internationale, which helped boost her career. Supported by RFI, she continued to produce music, her sound characterized by fast soukous rhythms. Nimon-Toki Lala has collaborated with other musicians including Sam Mangwana, Aurlus Mabele and Awilo Longomba. Today, she has several albums to her credit, including “Ayele”, which spawned the hit title track that made Nimon-Toki Lala popular across the continent.
