Born Elizabeth Bessem Ayamo Manga in Manyu Division, Cameroon, Bébé Manga (November 27, 1948 - July 1, 2011) was a singer regarded as one of the most popular makossa singers of the 1980s.  Her musical influence came at a very early age from her father who played many instruments and her mother who sang in the church choir. Manga’s maternal grandparents taught her to sing and are responsible for her special voice that earned her the nickname “Bébé”. Her career in African music began in 1975 with her singing in a night club in Côte d'Ivoire. Here, she recorded her most famous hit, "Amihttp://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=zikithea-20&l=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969&o=1&a=B003XN7NHE", her interpretation of Ebanda Manfred’s song “Amie”. The song became an instant international hit, sealing Bébé’s position as one of Africa’s greatest songstresses. Read more on Wikipedia...
