Nyboma Mwan'dido was born in the
Democratic Republic of Congo and began his singing career with Orchestre Negro Succes.
In 1969 he joined the band Baby National, then Bella Bella. He broke
away and started a band called Lipua Lipua, which he later left to form Les
Kamale. In 1979 Nyboma joined African All-Stars in Togo and
thereafter worked with many
African music greats from Congo including
Pépé Kallé,
Koffi Olomide, Madilu Système, Kamale, Lokassa Ya Mbongo and Bopol. His
1988 collaboration with Pepe Kalle on the hit track
Moyibi catapulted the duo
to global fame, making Nyboma one of the most celebrated
soukous musicians
in the world.
